Mentoring

What is mentoring?

Mentoring is a personalised, voluntary support relationship. An experienced graduate (the Mentor) shares their knowledge and experience with an ENSAI student (the Mentee) to help them develop their career plans.

Who is the programme for?

The mentoring programme is open to all students – engineering students and attachés.

Who are the mentors?

Mentors are alumni who graduated at least three years ago.

For example, for the 8th mentoring cycle starting in 2025–2026, the mentors will be ENSAI graduates from the class of 2022 and earlier.

The role of the mentor

The mentor supports the student in their decision-making at key stages of their studies:

• Choosing a specialisation;
• Finding work placements (2nd and 3rd years): reviewing CVs and cover letters, and preparing for interviews;
• Defining career aspirations.

How does it work?

Duration of the mentoring programme

The mentoring cycle runs from the formation of student-alumni pairs until the student’s graduation.

Thus, for students who joined ENSAI in 2025, it lasts:

• For Attachés: 1 to 2 years (end of 2026 or 2027).
• For Engineering students: 2 to 3 years (end of 2027, including the option of a gap year).

Registration and pairing of mentors and mentees

Student registrations take place in October of the second year of the programme, via a form sent by email.

For the 2025–2027 cycle, the programme is limited to 30 places.

Matching

Mentor–mentee pairings are carefully arranged by the association based on the intended course of study, the desired field of application, career aspirations and location (to facilitate face-to-face meetings).

Individual discussion sessions (speed meetings) are organised to enable students to get to know the mentors and to indicate their preferences regarding mentors and their backgrounds. These preferences are also taken into account when making pairings.
